Harry's mum to join TOWIE cast
Harry Derbridge's mum is to join the cast of 'The Only Way Is Essex' to bring comedy value to the upcoming third series of the ITV2 show.
Harry Derbridge's mum is to join the cast of 'The Only Way Is Essex'.
With the 17-year-old star's cousin Amy Childs having left the ITV2 reality show to appear in 'Celebrity Big Brother', producers are hoping introducing Harry's mum Karen - who is said to be Essex's answer to Barbara Windsor - will bring in comedy value to the upcoming third series.
Meanwhile, it has already been confirmed Harry's older brother Ronnie - who is the "complete opposite" of the flamboyant teen - will appear in season three.
An insider said: "With Amy gone, Harry was a bit out on a limb in terms of storylines. Bringing in some of the Derbridges makes perfect sense. They're a funny family and will provide plenty of laughs."
'TOWIE' chiefs are re-vamping the show by bringing in at least 10 new characters to join the likes of current favourites Mark Wright, Lauren Goodger and Kirk Norcross in the third series of the show.
The source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "It's going to be bigger than ever. More people will be introduced as the show progresses."
However, Karen won't be the first parent to join the show.
Mark and Jessica Wright's mum Carole and Kirk Norcross' dad Mick have appeared in 'TOWIE' since series two, while Lydia Bright thinks her eccentric mum Debbie - known for her tumultuous relationship with Lydia's boyfriend James 'Arg' Argent - was the "star" of the second season.
She recently told BANG Showbiz: "My mum is absolutely loving being a part of the show and she's definitely coming back for the third series. Everyone seems to love her, it's amazing. Forget me and James, she's the real star."
