Openly-gay 'X Factor' hopeful Samantha Brookes wants to win the ITV1 talent show for ''fatties and lezzas''
Samantha Brookes wants to win the 'X Factor' for "fatties and lezzas".
The 31-year-old openly gay singer- who is a size 18 to 20 - has made it through to the Boot Camp stage of the ITV1 competition, and is determined to triumph to prove talent is more important than image.
She said: "I watched 'Pop Idol' and thought that because I'm a big girl, I'm never going to make it as a pop star.
"What made me do this more than anything was being inspired by Adele, who's a curvaceous woman. I thought, 'What the hell? Here is my last chance.'
"There's never been a gay woman on 'X Factor' before. Here's to the fatties and the lezzas."
Meanwhile, Kitty Brucknell has refused to work with stylists if she makes it through to the final stages of the show.
The blonde singer - who has been dubbed the 'new Katie Waissel' over her outrageous antics - feels "passionate" about retaining control of her image.
She said: "I'm really passionate about styling myself. I'm not even sure I want a stylist on the show. I am not wearing anything that's not pre-approved.
"If someone tells me I have to wear some kind of helmet like Katie Waissel last year, I'm not doing it. I have a rubber bikini at home but my mum said she'd kill me if I wore it. It is a family show after all."
The Boot Camp episodes of 'X Factor' will air on ITV1 this weekend.
