Joe Pasquale lost toenails in show
Joe Pasquale says the damp conditions he experienced while filming 'Alone in the Wild' led to his toenails falling off.
Joe Pasquale's toenails fell off when he took art in 'Alone in the Wild'.
The comedian braved near-constant rain when he took part in the show - which saw him spend a week unaccompanied in Guyana, where he filmed his exploits for the programme - and admits the damp conditions took their toll on his body.
He said: "I'd done the London marathon, and it had made my feet go black . After three days [doing 'Alone in the Wild] because it was so wet, my toe nails fell off.
"There was chafing everywhere, they gave us these boxes of, like, Athlete's foot powder, and I was just covering myself in it, everywhere."
Joe - who was crowned winner of 'I'm A Celebrity . Get Me Out Of Here!' in 2004 - says he agreed to take part in the show because of his fascination with nature and love of TV shows about the world.
Speaking at the launch of 'Alone in the Wild' at London's One Marylebone, he said: "I've got five children and of the two still at home, my daughter watches 'The Only Way is Essex' and my son just likes to see the five minutes Playboy channel previews but I'm doing a degree at the Open University in geology and geosciences and I just love the Discovery Channel."
'Alone in the Wild' - which also features episodes created by retired cricketer Andrew Flintoff, 'Dancing On Ice' judge Jason Gardiner, mountaineer Aron Ralston, investigative reporter Donal MacIntyre, former SAS trooper Chris Ryan and sportswomen Amy Williams and Tanya Streeter - airs weekly on Discovery Channel from 5 October.
