Tulisa got X Factor job because she is 'feisty'
Tulisa Contostavlos got her 'X Factor' judging role because bosses were looking for someone ''young and feisty'' to join the new look panel
Tulisa Contostavlos was picked to be an 'X Factor' judge because the producers wanted someone "young and feisty".
The N-Dubz star is part of the new look judging panel for this year's series and she was stunned when she was contacted by bosses and offered the chance to be part of Simon Cowell's pop star search show.
However, Tulisa - who is joined on the panel by new faces Gary Barlow and Kelly Rowland and 'X Factor' stalwart Louis Wash - wasn't sure she had actually been given the job when Simon told her he had picked her to be a judge.
In an interview with We Love Pop magazine, she revealed: "They just called me. You can't really ring up 'The X Factor' and be like, 'Excuse me, I'd like to be a judge. Would you mind?' Can you? When I met the producers, they said that my name kept coming up because they wanted someone young and feisty. Simon kind of gave me a job on the spot. I was looking at him, like, 'Did you just give me the job?' and he just said, 'Congratulations'. I was thinking, 'What do you mean congratulations?! Have I got the job?!' But I didn't want to say that, so I just sat there going, 'Errrr, thanks,' and then I sort of walked out.' "
Since the new series started airing on ITV1 Tulisa has tentatively been reading criticism of herself online but rather than get upset she insists other people's negativity doesn't bother her.
The 23-year-old singer said: "I'm actually training myself. Do you know what I did the other day? I went on some websites to find the worst comments possible about myself, and I read every single one of them. I wanted to know how I would feel seeing and hearing people that hate me saying the most horrible things. And you know what? I just kinda laughed."
