'Coronation Street' serial killer John Stape will confess to his murders on his deathbed to ensure that wife Fiz gets out of jail after she was convicted of the crimes.
'Coronation Street' serial killer John Stape will confess to his murders on his deathbed.
The former teacher is currently covering up for three deaths he was involved in - Colin Fishwick, Colin's mother and Charlotte Hoyle - but he will make the dramatic revelation after he is critically injured in a high-speed car crash while being chased through Weatherfield by Kevin Webster.
Furious Kevin (Michael Le Vell) goes on a rampage after John (Graeme Hawley) kidnaps his daughter Rosie (Helen Flanagan) for a second time and after losing control of his vehicle, John is rushed to hospital.
After it becomes clear he won't pull through, he decides to confess all to ensure wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) is let out of jail after being accused of the murders.
Before his final confession, a jury finds Fiz - who has a nine-month-old daughter, Hope, with John - guilty of the killings and she is sentenced to life but she is given hope when she is allowed to visit dying John in hospital.
When she's there, he tells her: "I'm so sorry I ran away and left you. I messed up. But everything I ever did was to try and make life better for you and me and Hope. I'm going to die, Fiz, please say you forgive me before I go."
An emotional Fiz lays baby Hope next to him and tells her dying husband: "Why would I be here now if I hadn't forgiven you?"
