Kelly Rowland's second chance for wannabe
Kelly Rowland will try to persuade 'X Factor' wannabe Chrissie Pitt to dump her bandmates to perform on her own on tonight's (10.09.11) show
Kelly Rowland is set to ask 'X Factor' wannabe Chrissie Pitt to dump her bandmates and sing alone on tonight's show (10.09.11).
The former Destiny's Child singer will put the 26-year-old contestant - who successfully made it through to the Boot Camp stage of the competition last year - in a difficult position when she asks why she brought her other three Twisted members Cheryl Moody, Katie Orrock and Paige Flaherty to the audition.
After the group perform Adele's 'Someone Like You', Kelly says: "I wasn't crazy about the harmonies to be honest with you, and when you [Chrissie] started singing, no disrespect ladies [to the other three], but I was wondering why did you bring them along ... because you just didn't feel like you could do it by yourself?"
But Chrissie responds: "I did it last year by myself and it didn't work out ... maybe I wasn't good enough, maybe it wasn't my time last year ... I think this feels right ... I love these girls to bits, they honestly are my best friends and I wouldn't want to do this with anyone else other than these girls."
Kelly asks the wannabe why she "hid" behind her bandmates and fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlos says she has an "amazing voice" without the other three.
Twisted fail to progress to the next round and leave the stage, but Kelly goes backstage and apologies to the group for singling out Chrissie as the top performer. She then takes her to one side to try to convince her to sing alone.
She says: "You have a unique voice and when you all sing together there's nothing unique about it, not the four of you all together, I'm so sorry but I'm just saying in this moment would you want to come back or would you want to leave?"
Chrissie then struggles to make her mind up explaining she feels "totally guilty" and underprepared about performing alone.
Tonight's 'X Factor' will be screened on ITV1 at 8.15pm.
