Katherine Kelly getting Coronation Street special
ITV1 bosses are planning to give Katherine Kelly a special send off from 'Coronation Street' with her own show.
Katherine Kelly is getting her own 'Coronation Street' special.
The actress - who has played outspoken Becky McDonald in the ITV1 soap since 2006 - will be leaving the series at the end of the year, and TV bosses are keen to devote a show to her troublesome character.
The special programme will charter her life on the cobbled streets of Weatherfield and will contain an exclusive chat with the 31-year-old actress, according to the Daily Star newspaper.
Katherine has previously revealed she would go back to working on the soap at some point in the future, especially when her on-screen stepdaughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney), grows up.
She said: "You never know with her - she might be back at some point.
"Perhaps she'll tip up again when her stepdaughter, Amy, is a wild and crazy 18-year-old who needs someone to sort her out!
"The first thing I said to 'Coronation Street' producer Phil Collinson was, 'Please don't kill me off!'
"There are so many ups and downs and developments still to come, but I'd hate to see the end of Becky for good, I really would. I've watched the show all my life, and as a viewer, I wouldn't like that."
