David Walliams 'to replace The Hoff on BGT'
David Walliams has been approached to replace axed judge David Hasselhoff on 'Britain's Got Talent'.
David Walliams is set to replace David Hasselhoff on 'Britain's Got Talent'.
The 'Little Britain' comedian has reportedly been approached by ITV1 bosses who are desperate to improve ratings on the talent search show and are looking for someone "younger, fresher and more exciting" to join Michael McIntyre, Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden on the panel.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Viewing figures were a little disappointing over the whole of the last series. Producers want a younger, fresher judging panel.
"David Walliams was approached before but turned it down. But now he's happily settled, he is keen to explore new work opportunities. And in addition Simon and he are good friends."
However, former 'Baywatch' star David is reportedly devastated at his axing and has begged show bosses for his job back.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "David's representatives were aware it was going to come out about the sacking. They put in a call to Simon on Tuesday and tried to talk him round."
It is unclear if Amanda Holden will return to the panel as she is currently pregnant with her second child, and producers are discussing potential replacements just in case show bows out of the show too.
The source added: "If Amanda decides to concentrate on motherhood. Billie Piper would be a fantastic replacement. They're also looking at up and coming stars like Jessie J, who'd add a youthful element."
