EastEnders Alfie and Kat 'distraught' at miscarriage
'EastEnders' star Shane Richie has revealed his alter-ego Alfie Moon and onscreen wife Kat will be left ''distraught'' when she suffers a miscarriage
EastEnders' Kat and Alfie Moon are to be "distraught" when she has a miscarriage.
Shane Richie, who plays the pub landlord in the BBC One soap, revealed the couple - who were previously reunited with their baby Tommy after Ronnie Branning (Samantha Womack) swapped him for her dead son - will still hope to have another child in the future.
He said: "They're both distraught. Alfie's upset for Kat, but at the same time there's the hope that they might still have a family together.
"Alfie just wants to prove to Kat how much he loves her."
Before Kat (Jessie Wallace) suffered her miscarriage, Alfie assumed the pregnancy was as a result of her having an affair after he was declared sterile by doctors in Spain.
However, the baby turns out to be his.
Shane added to Inside Soap magazine: "Kat drags Alfie off for a new fertility test, as they both want to resolve this as quickly as possible.
"Kat is so upset that he's doubting her - she says she doesn't want to be a Moon any more if he just thinks she's a 'dirty Slater'.
"Then, when he finds out he is the dad, he thinks he can make the bad taste left by his accusation go away. Ever the optimist, Alfie!"
