Louis Walsh's mentor snub
Louis Walsh is said to be ''fuming'' after Simon Cowell gave him Sinitta as his 'X Factor' guest mentor instead of Adele
'X Factor' judge Louis Walsh is said to have been "fuming" with Simon Cowell after he was given Sinitta as his guest mentor instead of Adele.
The talent show veteran - who is the only original panellist remaining and now sits alongside Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland - was reportedly keen on the 'Someone Like You' hitmaker taking up the role for the judges houses part of the show, but programme boss Simon instead chose the 42-year-old singer, who he had an on and off relationship with for 20 years.
A source close to Louis told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "He was fuming. He saw it as yet another snub after he lost out to Gary as head judge.
"One minute he was lined up with an international star who's the woman of the moment, the next he was lumbered with an Eighties has-been whose high point was the questionable No 2 hit 'So Macho'.
"Adele was really up for it and had agreed in principle. Louis was thrilled because he absolutely loves her."
Another source added: "Louis was livid, as a decision was made and it wasn't up for discussion.
"Everyone was gobsmacked. Louis tried to find out what had changed and if there was a chance they could keep Adele. But he was told Sinitta was on and it was final."
Former judge Simon - who quit as a panellist on the programme after the last series to concentrate on US 'X Factor' - is thought to have held a number of meetings with Adele about being a guest mentor on the singing competition, and insiders believe the 'Rolling in the Deep' singer will take up the role on the American version later this year.
'X Factor' sources say the music mogul has made the decision as a "kiss and make up" gesture to Sinitta - who was his sidekick on the UK show every year from 2006 - after he appointed Mariah Carey as his guest mentor on the US version of the programme.
