Pat Monahan has won 'Show Me The Funny'.

The 35-year-old comedian beat off stiff competition from fellow finalists Tiffany Stevenson and Dan Mitchell to be crowned champion of the ITV1 show in a nail-biting live final - hosted by Jason Manford - in front of an audience of 3,000 at London's Hammersmith Apollo last night (25.08.11).

However, the Teeside-born funnyman admitted after having faced criticism from judge Kate Copstick for being a "warm-up act got lucky", he made sure he turned off his "banter button".

Pat exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I genuinely never even thought I'd get past the first week, let alone be performing in front of 3,000 people at the Hammersmith Apollo. It really is a dream come true.

"I'm glad Kate gave me the criticism because it really made me up my game and ensured I switched off that banter button and just focused on my material rather than the audience and who is wearing a nice spangly top."

After bagging a £100,000 prize, a nationwide tour and a Christmas DVD deal by winning 'Show Me The Funny', Pat plans to take his success in his stride.

He added: "While it does feel like some fairy godmother has come and waved a wand and made all of my dreams come true, this is the culmination of 10 years of hard work.

"Some comedians don't even get a DVD deal when they've been on the comedy circuit for 10 or 15 years so I'm going to make sure it's the best it can possibly be."

The 'Show Me The Funny' winner's DVD is out on 28th November by 2Entertain. Live tour tickets are available from www.ticketzone.co.uk
