Matt Smith has revealed there is a 'Terminator 2'-type robot in the new 'Doctor Who' episode 'Let's Kill Hitler'.
In the adventure - which kicks off the BBC One sci-fi show's autumn run this Saturday (27.08.11) - The Doctor (Matt) and his companions come face-to-face with the Tesselecta, a mechanoid which can change its appearance just like the T-1000 robot in the critically-acclaimed movie.
And that's not the only surprise in store for the Time Lord and Amy (Karen Gillan) and Rory (Arthur Darvill) because they also discover the Tesselecta is operated by tiny people, a twist by showrunner Steven Moffat which blew Matt's mind.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I marvel at the detail of Steven's thinking sometimes and this one particularly is very, very clever. The CGI for it is really clever. If you've seen 'Terminator 2' you'll get it.
"It (the Tesselecta) can turn itself into people but inside it are tiny people that operate it, which is sort of brilliant. And it finds itself in Nazi Germany - so needless to say it's impersonating some very interesting people. Again, it's one of Steven's very clever creations."
Matt also praised the special effects team at The Mill - who are responsible for creating the visual wonders on 'Doctor Who' - for bringing the Tesselecta to life, and he believes the effects on the current series are the best they've ever been.
He added: "I think The Mill this year have really upped their game from where they've been . So hats off to The Mill because they've been really brilliant and I think the CGI's been really strong this year."
