Lenny Kravitz has been living in a trailer on a beach in the Bahamas for the last two years and has revealed the tropical album has inspired his new album 'Black And White America' during his time there
Lenny Kravitz lives in a "trailer" on the beach in the Bahamas.
The 47-year-old singer says he feels most "at home" on the island of Eleuthera - the birthplace of his mother - and found inspiration for his new album 'Black And White America' during his time there.
Lenny - who recently sold his house in New York but has permanent home in Paris - said: "It is the place I feel the most at home. I've been there on and off since I was five and lived there the last two years.
"I live in a trailer on the beach, low key with a dog, a hammock and a jeep I bought when my first album came out. I wake up at night hearing music, I hear it walking down the road in the trees, so it's conducive to creativity."
Lenny - whose father is Jewish - insists he grew up feeling comfortable with being mixed race, but was shocked by people's attitudes when he first launched his music career.
He explained: "I had a very healthy childhood experience of being bi-racial. But when I first came out in the music industry I was always told I wasn't black enough or white enough and I didn't fit a box or category. I found that interesting.
"But I'm not just one thing, and not many of us are."
