Celebrity Big Brother launches at 5.1m viewers
The launch of 'Celebrity Big Brother' gave Channel 5 its fourth highest-ever rating last night (18.08.11), averaging 5.1 million for the launch show.
'Celebrity Big Brother' premiered with 5.16 million viewers last night (18.08.11).
The fly-on-the-wall series - which saw stars including Kerry Katona, Jedward, Amy Childs and Tara Reid enter the infamous house - peaked with 5.6 million at 10pm, making the fourth-best broadcast for its new home, Channel 5, since the station launched in 1997.
The 90-minute show was followed by 'Big Brother's Bit on the Side' - fronted by Emma Willis - at 10.30pm, which averaged 1.82 million viewers.
'Celebrity Big Brother' - which is hosted by Brian Dowling - airs again tonight (19.08.11), where viewers will be able to find out if Kerry Katona has completed her secret mission.
Big Brother called for someone to go to the Diary Room, and excited Kerry rushed to be first in the chair - only to be left with dismay when she was told she had to become the "biggest ever Diva" in order to pass a secret mission.
As instructed, she later threw a tantrum over her desire to smoke.
The mum-of-four also bonded with Jedward over their similar hairstyles last night, with the teenage twins encouraging her to sculpt her quiff higher.
They told her: "Keep your hair like that, it's cool. It looks really good."
Her pal Amy Childs added: "Your hair's lovely up, I like it like that."
Kerry then joked about merging her name with the brothers - whose real names are John and Edward Grimes - saying: "We're Jedward-Ka, Jedward-Ka!"
However, Edward disagreed, saying: "If you put Jedward and Amy together it's Jedmy. If you put Kerry and Jedward together it would be Jerry."
