Louis Walsh 'reborn' on The X Factor
Dermot O'Leary believes Louis Walsh has been ''reborn'' and is determined for the UK 'X Factor' to do better than the new US version
Louis Walsh has been "reborn" on the new series of 'The X Factor'.
The Irishman is the only original member of the judging panel left on the show, but host Dermot O'Leary thinks the additions of Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos have inspired the boy band mogul to work even harder - particularly as he is determined to do better than former head judge Simon Cowell on his new US version of the series.
Dermot said: Louis has got a new energy about him. There is a real sense of Louis being reborn in this panel. I honestly don't think you could make the show without him. He is the heart and soul of it.
"He is really obsessed with making it better. He really wants to beat Simon on the American show."
Dermot also tipped former Destiny's Child singer Kelly to be a huge hit with viewers.
He added in an interview with the Daily mirror newspaper: "What is amazing about Kelly is how quickly she got the British sense of humour and how attuned to it she is.
"She will really become an adopted Brit throughout the show. She has got credibility and she articulates her critique really well. She is like, 'We're here, there's a party, let's do it.'
"She wasn't a dancer in Destiny's Child, she was one of the main singers. Someone will try to hit a note and she will say, 'Baby girl, you need to do this' and then she will just do it and show them how it is done and the crowd go wild. She is not showing off, she is just showing them how it is done.
"What is lovely about her is that she is taking it really seriously. Their reputations are on the line and it means a lot to them."
