Sally Bercow confirmed for CBB
Sally Bercow has convinced her husband, Commons Speaker John Bercow, to allow her to appear in 'Celebrity Big Brother' when it re-launches on Channel 5 tonight (18.08.11)
Sally Bercow has convinced her husband to allow her to appear in 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The mum-of-three - who is married to Commons Speaker John Bercow - reportedly persuaded her spouse that it wouldn't harm his political career while on a holiday in Devon earlier this month.
While the broadcaster is reportedly being paid £100,000 for her appearance on the fly-on-the wall show - which re-launches on Channel 5 tonight (18.08.11) - she is believed to be donating a large proportion to charity.
A 'Big Brother' insider told The Sun newspaper: "Sally managed to use her wiles on John in Devon. He eventually gave in, though he made her promise not to say or do anything that might harm him.
"She agreed, but producers have said it is down to her to watch her tongue."
However, Sally's plans to appear on the reality TV show have not gone down well with politicians, who have accused her of abusing her position for "financial gain".
Tory MP Rob Wilson saying: "John Bercow said he wanted to restore respect and dignity to Parliament in his manifesto for Speaker. I am not sure how Sally Bercow going on one of the country's tackiest shows helps.
"Is it really appropriate for the Speaker's wife to use Parliament for her own financial gain? After all, the only reason for the invitation is because her husband is the Speaker, I would urge her to think very carefully about what she is doing."
