Jason Donovan to compete in Strictly
Former 'Neighbours' star Jason Donovan is set to take part in this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing', which returns to TV screens next month
Jason Donovan is set to take part in this year's 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The former 'Neighbours' actor will compete in the BBC One show when it returns to TV screens in September and although he won't receive a set fee, he could earn up to £100,000 if it makes it the final.
Bosses were keen to sign the former pop star up because they think he will make great viewing and it will also mean a Saturday night showdown with his good friend Gary Barlow - who is a judge on rival ITV show 'The X Factor'.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Jason is a great signing for 'Strictly'. He still has a lot of fans from his days on 'Neighbours' and his pop career, as well as new fans from his stage shows.
"He is also really good friends with Gary, so it will be interesting to see how their rivalry plays out."
Although the final line-up for the show - which was last year won by ex-'EastEnders' star Kara Tointon - is yet to be announced, it is thought Jason will be joined by former footballer Robbie Savage, astrologer Russell Grant and Nancy Dell'Olio, the ex-girlfriend of former England football manager Sven-Goran Ericksson.
