EastEnders' Darren Miller is to bow out of the BBC One soap when he calls off his wedding to Jodie Gold.

The car salesman - played by Charlie G. Hawkins - will sensationally leave Walford after seven years in the square after realising at the last minute that he can't go through with his wedding to gorgeous Jodie (Kylie Babbington).

After Darren gets drunk on his stag night and sleeps with troubled teen Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), he tells his fiance he isn't fit to be her husband.

An insider said: "Darren makes a terrible mistake and can't keep it from Jodie. He doesn't mean to break her heart, but he does.

"With no Jodie and no prospects, what has he got to hang around Walford for? He decides on a clean break."

However, 'EastEnders' bosses are leaving the door open for Darren to return in the future.

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "This way, the door remains open for him to return."

During his time in Albert Square, Darren has been outed as the secret dad of Heather Trott's (Cheryl Fergison) baby, got engaged to childhood sweetheart Libby Fox (Belinda Owusu), been put in charge of the car lot and won over the heart of Jewish Jodie by getting circumcised.
