Steve Jones didn't "mope around" after Cheryl Cole was sacked from the US 'X Factor'.
The Welsh star is presenting the Stateside version of the show, and despite the Geordie beauty's departure from the series after just four audition rounds shocking many, he admits it was "business as usual".
He said: "It was business as usual after she left. You can't really mope around.
"I was really looking forward to spending a lot of time with Cheryl - I've known her for years and she is a great girl. But we just got on with the show.
"We moved the pieces around and just continued, what else can you do."
Steve - who lost his presenting partner Nicole Scherzinger when she replaced Cheryl on the judging panel - has since spoken to the 28-year-old singer, and explained she is "cool" following her departure from the US show.
He added to heat magazine: "I spoke to Cheryl afterwards and it was all cool. It really wasn't awkward in the slightest. I hope I do bump into her soon."
