Rowan Atkinson has been treated for ''minor'' injuries after crashing his £650,000 McLaren F1 super car
Rowan Atkinson has been hospitalised following a crash in his £650,000 car.
The 'Mr. Bean star is believed to have suffered a minor shoulder injury after his McLaren F1 super car hit a tree and lamppost, and then caught fire.
However, the actor was able to free himself and wait with a motorist until emergency services arrived.
It is believed the smash happened on the A605 at Haddon near Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, at 7.30pm on Thursday (04.08.11)
A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews brought the fire under control by 8.13pm. They made the vehicle safe and used one hose reel to put out the fire.
"There was one casualty but he was not trapped."
While Rowan, 56, only suffered minor injuries, onlookers say he is lucky to be alive following the collision, which saw the car - which has a top speed of 230mph - spin several times before hitting the tree.
One onlooker said: "Rowan is lucky to be alive considering the state of the car."
The 'Blackadder' star - who previously crashed the vehicle in 1999 - is known for his love of motoring and has a fleet of classic cars, including Aston Martins and Rolls Royces.
He bought the McLaren F1 to celebrate the success of the 'Mr. Bean' movie.
