Ben Price says rape storyline will rock
Ben Price believes the upcoming Carla Connor rape storyline will have a major impact on his character Nick Tilsley and the other members of the ''love square'' - Peter Barlow and Leanne Battersby.
Ben Price believes the upcoming Carla Connor rape storyline will have a major impact on his character Nick Tilsley.
The actor insists the shocking plotline which sees factory boss Carla (Alison King) assaulted by her fiance Frank Foster (Andrew Lancel) after she calls off their wedding will have ramifications for more people than just the two people initially involved.
Ben believes the fall-out from the crime could lead to Nick rekindling his affair with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) who is married to Carla's crush Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne).
He told BANG Showbiz: "I don't get involved in that storyline straight away. Frank and Carla will play out the situation completely separately from the rest of the love square situation, as it were. I think soaps should be about these strong storylines and tackling these issues. I'm sure it will be done very well. We haven't started filming yet and I don't think I have any direct involvement in it. I think if Carla does admit to being in love with Peter it could finally open the doors for Leanne and Nick to be together."
The 39-year-old screen heartthrob insists the "love square" between Nick, Peter, Carla and Leanne has the potential to keep the ITV1 soap's viewers gripped for weeks to come.
He added: "The love square, so to speak, has worked really well and I think the audience will want us to keep revisiting it. It's that, 'Is it going to happen? Is it not going to happen?' ongoing situation. The main question will be if Peter ends up staying with Leanne or going for Carla. All these questions are still unanswered and it's great to keep going back to that."
