Rihanna is set to perform at the 'X Factor' Boot Camp

The 'S & M' hitmaker - whose performance during the live episodes of the TV talent show sparked nearly 3,000 complaints last year for being too raunchy - has been invited to the programme to kick off the second round of the contest, piling on more pressure for hopefuls who will be forced to take the stage to audition after she sings.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "They're desperate to bring the show in with a bang this year and Rihanna is definitely their wild card.

"It's going to be a massive gamble given last year's controversy but it's absolutely worth it.

"It's very nerve-racking for the contestants but great viewing for the audience at home.

"Who could follow Rihanna and be confident? This will definitely weed out the good from the bad."

Meanwhile, the exotic locations to be used by the judges for the third round, Judges' Homes - in which they are given a category to mentor and whisk their group away to whittle down to their finalists - have been revealed.

Head judge Gary Barlow plans to jet off with his group to Los Angeles, while Kelly Rowland is also going to America, but will take her contestants to Miami, and Tulisa Contostavlos wants to take her hopefuls to her grandmother's villa on the Greek island of Mykanos.

Louis Walsh - who has only once ventured further away than his native Ireland - will whisk his category to the South of France.

A source said: "Everyone's always worried about staying in the British Isles for the judges' homes and it's usually Louis' group that does.

"He can't bear to be away from his precious pad in Ireland."

"Gary used to live in LA so it's a special place for him. The viewers and the staff are in for a real treat.

"They're pulling out all the stops this year with lavish locations and A-list performances from the beginning of the series.

"It can only mean it's going to get bigger and better."

Sassy pop and R&B packed with attitude from the multi-award-winning Barbadian singer actress, who has topped the UK charts again and again with hits including 'Umbrella', 'Only Girl (In The World)', 'We Found Love' and 'Diamonds.'
