Hilary Devey breathes fire in Dragon's Den
New Dragon Hilary Devey ''has a go'' at two hopefuls in her first episode of 'Dragon's Den'
Hilary Devey gives two business hopefuls a tongue lashing in her first episode of 'Dragon's Den'.
The entrepreneur is a fierce addition to the panel of business moguls - who decide whether or not to invest in people's ideas - and holds nothing back in her first appearance, according to existing Dragon Duncan Bannatyne.
He told BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles: "I'm trying to think what happens in the first episode, I just remember watching Hilary - twice she has a go [at people] she really goes for it.
"She doesn't have a go at the other Dragons, she warms up for a couple of weeks first."
Duncan has also revealed one of the unexpected perks of being on the show is constantly being inundated with free business wear.
He said: "People keep phoning us now and saying, I want you to have a suit free, and you go and they measure you and they give you a suit free. It happens all the time."
Hilary - who made her fortune with Pall-Ex a Europe-wide pallet distribution company - replaces James Caan on the show, after he quit in January this year.
She completes the panel alongside Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis, Duncan and Deborah Meaden, and Hilary has previously admitted she would have relished the opportunity to pitch to the Dragons.
She said: "I would have loved the opportunity to have stood before the Dragons, and I will remember my own experiences and the realities of running a business today, when choosing to support - or reject - the budding entrepreneurs joining me in the Den."
'Dragon's Den' returns for its ninth series on Sunday night (31.07.11) at 9pm on BBC Two.
