Emmerdale bosses leave door open for Pauline Quirke
Pauline Quirke could return to 'Emmerdale' as bosses of the ITV! have left the door open for her to come back as Hazel Rhodes
Pauline Quirke could return to 'Emmerdale'.
The 52-year-old actress is to quit her role as Hazel Rhodes in the ITV1 soap later this year but says bosses have left the door open in case she wants to come back.
She told 'This Morning': "I love it at 'Emmerdale' and I will be sad to go. There will be a lot of tears. They have very kindly left the door open for me. I'd love to come back."
Pauline is to now concentrate on a stage version of classic sitcom 'Birds of a Feather', in which she played Sharon Theodopolopodos.
The star's 'Emmerdale' character Hazel is currently involved in an assisted suicide plot after her tetraplegic son Jackson Walsh - who lost the use of his limbs following a horrific road crash in the soap last year - asked her to help him end his life by administering a lethal dose of tablets in his drink.
However, despite 'Emmerdale' bosses' best efforts to deal with the harrowing plot as sensitively as possible, the storyline was slammed by industry watchdogs for exploiting a serious topic in an attempt to "boost ratings".
