N-Dubz blast 'cheating' artists
N-Dubz' Dappy thinks artists who don't write their own lyrics or can't perform their whole songs live should not be in the charts
N-Dubz' Dappy thinks artists who don't write their own hits should not be in the charts.
The 'Best Behaviour' hitmaker - who stars in the group with singer Tulisa Contostavlos and producer Fazer - thinks singers should write their own material and doesn't take rappers "seriously" if they do not perform songs in their entirety live.
Speaking at the T4 on the Beach festival in Weston-super-Mare yesterday (10.07.11), he told BANG Showbiz: "People who don't write their own songs shouldn't be allowed to be release them in the charts. We've come from nothing and wrote all our own stuff.
"Rappers who only feel they can rap and not do the chorus and let someone else do the chorus, that's cheating as well.
"Do the whole tune, three and a half minutes by yourself and I'll take you seriously."
N-Dubz set included hits 'Girls' and 'I Need You' as they closed the main stage at the seaside concert, but the event was earlier marred after JLS were forced to pull out of their performance, citing technical issues and a the lack of a sound check.
Singer Marvin Humes later wrote on the group's Facebook page: "We are SO sorry that we are not performing. It's something that was beyond our control. As a four-piece live singing band there is no way we can do such a huge show without a soundcheck or camera rehearsal (sic).
"We are extremely disappointed to let you all down (sic)."
Fans were not left disappointed, however, as they were treated to sets from acts including The Wanted, Sugababes, Jason Derulo and The Wombats.
