Joe McElderry wants to prove he's a success
Joe McElderry hopes Simon Cowell will tune in to 'Popstar to Operastar' tomorrow (10.07.11) so he can prove his career isn't over.
Joe McElderry wants to win 'Popstar to Operastar' to prove his career isn't over.
The 20-year-old singer - who will compete in tomorrow's (10.07.11) final against Cheryl Baker - shot to fame after winning the 'X Factor' in 2009 but lost his record deal in February following disappointing chart performances and after being given a second chance with the classical contest, Joe hopes Simon Cowell will watch his performances tomorrow and realise he isn't a flop.
He said: "I just hope Simon Cowell is watching. Maybe he can tune in on Sunday and see what he's missed!"
Joe admits he finds the workload on 'Popstar to Operastar' much more difficult than that of 'The X Factor' because it is so technically demanding, and made harder by having to learn lyrics in multiple languages.
He said in an interview with The Sun newspaper: "On 'X Factor' you can hide behind the huge stage, the smoke and mirrors and dancers, but here you're literally on stage and you have got to sing."
While the workload may be harder, Joe finds it easier performing in front of the judges - Katherine Jenkins, Rolando Villazon, Simon Callow and Vanessa Mae - because they are much nicer than their 'X Factor' counterparts.
He added: "These judges are nicer. They're certainly nicer than Simon. Nobody can top Simon Cowell."
