Paul Nicholls axed over drug test refusal

Paul Nicholls was sacked from 'Waterloo Road' for reportedly refusing to take a drugs test.
The former 'EastEnders' actor was axed from his role as PE teacher Jez Diamond in the BBC One school drama last month for his "erratic" behaviour and it has now been claimed he wouldn't undergo the producers' request for a test at a clinic in London's Harley Street.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Paul refused the test."
The show introduced a tough anti-drugs stance after actor Craig Fitzpatrick was caught smoking crack cocaine.
Sources had claimed Paul - who has admitted to having drink and drug problems in the past - had been behaving strangely after the death of his beloved grandfather and had to be reprimanded twice for being late, so bosses took action and terminated his contract after just three days.
A source said: "Paul is a lovely guy but he is in a dark place at the moment. We let him go because it wasn't working out and hopefully some time off now will give Paul the opportunity to sort himself out.
"His behaviour on set was very odd. People felt uncomfortable around him. It was clear Paul was having some personal problems."
The 32-year-old star has now been replaced by 'The Bill' star Alex Walkinshaw.
