'Coronation Street' character Fiz Stape is terrified she will be found guilty of the murder of Colin Fishwick because her husband John - who committed the crime - is on the run.

'Coronation Street's Fiz Stape is "very scared" she will be found guilty of a murder she didn't commit.

The flame-haired character is arrested on suspicion of murdering Colin Fishwick when police swoop on Underworld in the episode tonight (04.07.11) and as her husband John - who really did the crime - is on the run, she doesn't know what the future may hold for her.

Jennie McAlpine, who plays Fiz, said: "She's very scared. They can't find John and he's the only one who can back up Fiz's story.

"She despises John. But let's see what the scriptwriters say. I don't think an audience would ever forget it if she forgave him!"

However, Fiz is also concerned about the fate of her six-month-old daughter Hope if she is jailed, and is desperate for her not to end up in foster care.

Jennie explained to We Love Telly magazine said: "Her main concern is that Hope will not end up the same way she did - in care."

Despite her solicitor suggesting she could get her in a mother and baby prison unit, Fiz decides to turn the offer down and asks her friends the Croppers to take the infant in instead.

Jennie added: "She can't imagine Hope in prison with the noise and the smell."
