'EastEnders' Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) will pretend his wife is dead in a bid to get with new women.

The Albert Square lothario - who split with his partner Jane (Laurie Bett) after he has an affair with Glenda Mitchell - will attempt to woo ladies by claiming he is a widower after decided to get back on the dating scene with newcomer Cheryl (Heather Craney), but he will eventually be caught out.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: "Ian will do anything, he's pathetic. But his lie will catch up with him."

A number of characters have recently been trying to find love, including Pat Evans, played by Pam St. Clement, who will be pursued by Norman Simmonds (George Layton).

A source said: "Norman hasn't had much luck in life. He's hapless, but has a really good heart. He could be just what Pat's looking for."

However Norman - who is uncle to Janine Malloy (Charlie Brooks) will cause problems when he battles with her about his mother Lydia's will.

The source added: "Norman turns up at Lydia's funeral and Janine will be wondering what he wants and why he's there.

"It'll add insult to injury that he has a history with Pat. Janine's likely to do everything she can to destroy their happiness."
