Claire Richards and Joe Washbourn out of Operastar
Claire Richards and Joe Washbourn were voted off 'Popstar to Operastar' last night (03.07.11) leaving Joe McElderry and Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker to battle it out in next week's final
Claire Richards and Joe Washbourn were voted off 'Popstar to Operastar' last night (03.07.11).
The former Steps singer and Toploader frontman received the lowest amount of viewer votes and as there was no sing-off like previous weeks, both found themselves going home.
Mother-of-two Claire told host Myleene Klass: "I am going to miss it, I've loved singing again. It's nice to show my kids what mummy did before."
Joe said he would give his vocal chords a rest before "going back to the day job".
Claire's departure was a shock as she had impressed everyone with her version of the 'Queen Of The Night' from Mozart's 'Magic Flute' - reaching the highest notes ever by a celebrity on the ITV1 show.
English tenor Alfie Boe - who is standing in for judge and mentor Rolando Vilazon, who is abroad performing - told her: "It's incredible the progress Claire has made this week. There's so much more inside of you. I'll be buying my ticket when you play in Covent Garden."
Former 'X Factor' winner Joe McElderry and Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker will now battle it out in next Sunday's (10.07.11) final, with Joe the favourite to win.
