Claire Richards turned down I'm A Celeb
Claire Richards turned down the chance to appear on 'I'm A Celebrity . Get Me Out Of Here!' in favour of 'Popstar To Operastar' because she didn't want to have to eat bugs
Claire Richards turned down 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!' to take part in 'Popstar To Operastar'.
The former Steps singer chose the TV series - which sees chart stars judged on their operatic performances - over spending time on the jungle-based reality show, because she didn't want to have to eat creepy crawlies or endure gruelling tasks.
She said: "I'm not into camping and eating bugs is not my idea of fun."
Claire received overwhelming praise from the judging panel of 'Popstar To Operastar' on Sunday night (19.06.11), with Simon Callow saying: "The confidence was absolutely staggering, and you also gave us the character".
However, she already has a new TV series lined up for when she leaves the ITV1 show.
Claire - whose weight has fluctuated between a size 10 and size 16 in recent years - has agreed to let a camera crew follow her for a year to monitor the effect her continual yo-yo dieting is having on her body.
Sky Living's 'Claire Richards: Slave To Food' will also help the 33-year-old star overcome her self-confessed "addiction" to calorific treats.
