EastEnders' Jack to halt Ronnie's prison sentence
EastEnders' Jack Branning will do all he can to stop wife Ronnie from going to prison by hiring a top QC to represent her during her baby swap trial.
EastEnders' Jack Branning will do all he can to stop wife Ronnie from going to prison.
The disturbed blonde is to face trial after swapping her dead son James with Kat and Alfie Moon's little boy, Tommy, allowing them to think he had died, and while Jack didn't agree with what his spouse did he can't bear to see her go behind bars.
So Jack (Scott Maslen) hires a QC to represent Ronnie (Samantha Womack) although it doesn't go down well with his wife and he tries to finance the legal effort by asking business partner Michael if he can be bought out of his share of the boxing club.
A source said: "Jack tells Michael that his plan is to move far away from Albert Square if Ronnie gets off - which doesn't get a brilliant reaction. The new solicitor hasn't lost a case in three years so Ronnie's future looks brighter than it has done in months.
"That said, there are plenty of people around Walford who are determined that Ronnie shouldn't go free, not least Kat - and maybe even Ronnie herself."
As well as Jack helping her throughout the trial, Ronnie is set to receive support from an unlikely source - Kat (Jessie Wallace).
The two women - who were both forced to give up baby girls during their teenage years - have a confrontation and it seems the bolshie barmaid may forgive her.
An insider added to Inside Soap magazine: "Kat's testimony will be the most compelling piece of evidence that the court hears. She has it in her power to change everything. Might Kat actually find it in her heart to forgive Ronnie?"
