Gethin Jones to front Holding Out For A Hero
Gethin Jones will front new ITV show 'Holding Out For A Hero', which sees contestants compete in a series of challenges in the hope of winning money for other people
Gethin Jones is to front a "life changing" new game show for ITV.
The former 'Blue Peter' presenter is to host 'Holding Out For A Hero', which sees three players each week compete in a series of challenges to win money for their chosen cause.
Gethin said: "I can't wait to get started on this brand new series, 'Holding Out For A Hero' gives someone the opportunity to win a life changing amount of money - not for themselves - but for someone else. They will have to play clever, take the pressure, and most importantly - hold their nerve!"
ITV are delighted to have appointed Gethin as presenter of the show, which will be broadcast later this year.
Elaine Bedell, ITV's director of entertainment and comedy, said "'Holding Out For A Hero' is a great new format with a unique twist - contestants play for others and not themselves. Gethin will be terrific at the helm and we look forward to seeing our contestants helping others during the series."
While contestants will not be playing for themselves, producers promise it will be no less tense than other quiz shows.
Andy Culpin, managing director of 12 Yard Productions, added: "'Holding Out For a Hero' takes the drama, excitement and tense nature of the very best quiz shows and turns it on its head; viewers will see contestants taking part to change someone else's life rather than their own."
