Kitty Daisy & Lewis - Smoking in Heaven
Sibling trio release a ska and swing-flavoured second album
(Sunday Best Recordings)
In the wake of their eponymous debut album, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis have rightfully earned themselves a reputation for being a group of highly talented and original masters of transcendent rock 'n' roll. They return here with record two, Smoking in Heaven and the usual mix of swing, jump blues, country and western and Hawaiian-inspired infectious tracks, alongside the ska-influenced opener 'Tomorrow' and first single 'I’m So Sorry'. Fans looking for a dramatic change in musical direction from the trio will be disappointed -- the Kentish Town siblings have stuck to their thus-far winning formula of catchy, vintage-tinged tracks. Highlights include the R&B flavoured 'Baby You Don’t Know' and the surprisingly contemporary-sounding 'Paan Man Boogie'.
