Gemma Oaten joins cast of Emmerdale
'Emmerdale' is set to welcome Gemma Oaten to its cast, playing the part of feisty newcomer Rachel Breckle.
Gemma Oaten is set to join 'Emmerdale'.
The former 'Doctors' star will play feisty new character Rachel Breckle, who brings her young niece Amelia - played by seven-year-old Daisy Campbell - to start a new life in the Dales.
Gemma, 27, will start filming later this before appearing on screen in July, and has described bagging the role as a "dream come true".
She said: "I'm thrilled to be joining 'Emmerdale'. I've always watched the show and getting the part of Rachel is a dream come true.
"She is a fantastic character and I'm so excited about filming my first scenes."
Rachel - an argumentative and defensive character - will bring some controversy to 'Emmerdale' when she sets about defending Amelia, who is accused of bullying Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).
Series producer Stuart Blackburn added: "I'm delighted to welcome Gemma to the cast.
"Rachel will certainly ruffle a few feathers with her straight-talking approach but beneath the surface she is fiercely loyal with a hidden heart of gold."
Her introduction is part of a show revamp to bring in younger, more dynamic characters, as well as different logos, theme music to give the show a more up-to-date feel.
