James Corden ready to write new Gavin and Stacey
James Corden wants to write another special episode of 'Gavin and Stacey' because he is intrigued by the fate of the characters
James Corden is thinking of writing another 'Gavin and Stacey' special.
The 32-year-old actor - who played Gavin's best friend Smithy in the sit-com - admits he and co-writer Ruth Jones, who portrayed outspoken Nessa, are still fascinated by their comic creations and often discuss what happened to the characters.
He said: "Ruth is my closest and bet friend and we miss the series. I'm as interested as everyone else to find out what has happened to those characters.
"We've always said that we would love the idea of making a special. We talk about it."
However, the funnyman - who has a two-month-old son, Max, with fiancée Julia Carey - admitted any further 'Gavin and Stacy' scripts won't be written in the near future as he is too busy.
He added on ITV1's 'This Morning': "'Gavin and Stacey' can't happen at the moment. There physically isn't any time. But believe me, no-one is more touched than Ruth and I when people come up to us who love the show so much."
James recently admitted he longs to work with Ruth again, whether on 'Gavin and Stacey' or something new.
He said: "We'd both be disappointed if we didn't at least try. We talk all the time.
"It's very much a friendship first and a working relationship after that. I love her dearly. The thought of being with her in a room again, whether that's to write 'Gavin and Stacey' or something new, is sometimes all that spurs me on."
