Claire Richards terrified of tears
Steps singer Claire Richards is ''scared'' of bursting into tears while performing on ITV1 singing competition 'Popstar to Operastar'
Claire Richards is "scared" she will cry on 'Popstar to Operastar'.
The former Steps hitmaker - who is set to appear on the ITV1 singing competition alongside former 'X Factor' winner Joe McElderry, Ultravox singer Midge Ure and Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker - revealed she is afraid of bursting into tears when she performs an emotional opera song.
She said: "I am scared that every time I sing I will start crying."
The 33-year-old star is to be judged by new panellists Vanessa Mae and actor and theatre director Simon Callow after they recently replaced Meat Loaf and Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen on the programme, which is set to be hosted by Myleene Klass and Alan Titchmarsh.
Katherine Jenkins and Rolando Villazon will also be lending their opinions to the operatic performances of a whole host of stars, including former Pussycat Doll Melody Thorton, who is pleased the Welsh mezzo-soprano is one of her advisers.
She recently told BANG Showbiz: "Katherine Jenkins is so amazing, she's one of my mentors and I'm really thankful for that. I'm singing opera, kicking some ass, learning a new technique and it's really exciting.
"Everybody's really sweet. I love everyone, they're awesome. They're all really good. But look, I want to win. I didn't try out and find my way here not to."
'Popstar to Operastar' will return on Saturday (04.06.11) with a special show to introduce the contestants.
