Torchwood 'won't be toned down for US
'Torchwood' actor John Barrowman has revealed the upcoming series of the sci-fi drama will not be toned down for US audiences
John Barrowman has revealed the new series of 'Torchwood' will not be toned down for US audiences.
The 44-year-old actor insisted his bisexual alter-ego Captain Jack Harkness will still get to have "full-on boy sex" in the upcoming fourth season of the sci-fi show, and claimed he would not have returned for filming if the "heart and soul" of the Cardiff-based drama had been modified.
He said: "I knew the producers would be true to the show and not change it drastically. If it was watered down, I wouldn't have done it.
"For those people who are staunch fans, it's going to have the heart and soul of 'Torchwood' which we've always had, plus the energy and excitement of a show that's bigger and better."
Producer Russell T. Davies also praised the presentation of gay issues on US television, claiming America is "way ahead of Britain".
Russell added to Entertainment Weekly: "The US portrayal of gay, bisexual and lesbian characters is currently way ahead of Britain.
"It's all the gay men and women sat on the writing teams pushing their stories forward, and I think that's wonderful."
