Lau, Charlie McKerron and Michael Marra set to play Insider 2011

Music festival with Victoriana theme set in Cairngorms National Park

Formed following the demise of nearby eco-festival the Outsider, the Insider is an ever-so-genteel alternative to the rowdy weekenders that young ones go to nowadays. Now in its third year, the fest will feature a day curated by esteemed Scots folk group Lau, playing up to its unashamedly traditional roots. Set in the Cairngorms National Park, the setting allows 750 attendees to camp across the thirty acre estate, offering plenty of privacy. Yurt hire or campervan access costs a little extra, but this year’s Victoriana theme decrees that ‘if you arrive by horse drawn carriage, hot air balloon, traction engine, penny-farthing or flying machine you will be issued with ale tokens to the tune of twenty pounds per conveyance.’ Go on, hold them to it.

Line-up: Lau, Charlie McKerron, Hidden Orchestra, Admiral Fallow, Michael Marra

Plus: If you like folk music and the countryside, you’ll love it
Minus: If you don’t …

Actually there is loads at the Insider for those who aren't into their trad folk. Even Lau on Sunday are expected to pull something pretty unusual out of the hat with their afternoon including Geese and Hidden Orchestra (even we dont know what we have started there). The Full Friday and Saturday line ups are now up on and feature some of our stomping party favourites from last year including Admiral Fallow, Woodenbox, The Banana Session and The Horndogs, not to mention Washington Irving, Rachel Sermanni and John Knox Sex Club alongside such new talent as Stanley Odd, Bronto Skylift, Kitty the Lion and Lord Rochester. We also have a big funk blow out in the form of Gecko 3 and Jazz bar stalwarts Mike Kearney, and glorious prizes in the moustache awards, welly wanging and flying machine competitions. And the Insider orchestra.

2 and a half weeks and counting, we still have a few tickets left so get them while they are hot.

And shave selectively...
