Jane Horrocks is to star in new supermarket comedy 'Trollied'.
The former 'Absolutely Fabulous' actress will join Lark Rise to Candleford's Jason Watkins, 'The Full Monty' actor Mark Addy and 'This Is England' star Chanel Cresswell in the Sky 1 comedy drama, which will document the lives of a number of everyday people working in a local grocery store.
Jane admitted she was initially attracted to the role because it would offer her the "luxury" of playing a part based in a realistic environment, even if it is a character who is universally disliked.
She said: "I was attracted to Trollied as soon as I saw the scripts, they were very funny, they're well-structured and well written. The set as a fully replicated supermarket is incredible. It's a luxury for us to be in such a realistic environment.
"I think it's extremely well cast because everybody's so individual. With a character like Julie who's so disliked by the majority of people in the supermarket, you have to hope that people don't think I'm like that as a person."
However, Sky executives have promised 'Trollied' won't be the only new comedy set to hit screens over the coming months.
Lucy Lumsden, head of comedy for the broadcaster, said: "'Trollied' is the first of a number of brand new British comedies for Sky and we're extremely excited by the talent around the show, on and off screen."
'Trollied' will be broadcast on Sky 1 HD in July 2011.
