Melody Thornton to 'kick some ass'
Former Pussycat Doll singer Melody Thornton is hoping to ''kick some ass'' on ITV1 talent show 'Popstar to Operastar'
Melody Thornton is hoping to "kick some ass" on 'Popstar to Operastar'.
The former Pussycat Dolls singer explained while she is getting on well with the other contestants - who include former 'X Factor' champion Joe McElderry, Midge Ure, Cheryl Baker and Claire Richards - she is determined to triumph in the ITV1 singing competition.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I'm singing opera, kicking some ass, learning a new technique and it's really exciting.
"Everybody's really sweet. I love everyone, they're awesome. They're all really good. But look, I want to win. I didn't try out and find my way here not to."
The TV talent show - which is set to return to screens next month - is presented by ex-Hear'Say singer Myleene Klass alongside Alan Titchmarsh and aims to train pop stars to sing in an opera style.
And Melody, 26, thinks classical singing is something which needs to be hyped up among the younger generation.
Speaking at the launch party for the Gumball 3000 Rally - which starts today (26.05.11) - at London's Playboy Club, she added: "I'm learning to really appreciate opera. Classical is something I think is neglected amongst our younger demographic, it's really hard.
"Katherine Jenkins is so amazing, she's one of my mentors and I'm really thankful for that."
