Katherine Kelly hopes for Corrie return
Coronation Street's Katherine Kelly thinks her character Becky McDonald could make a shocking return to the ITV1 soap when her onscreen stepdaughter Amy is 18
Becky McDonald could return to 'Coronation Street'.
Katherine Kelly - who plays the bolshie blonde - thinks her character's stint in the ITV1 soap is not over for good, suggesting Becky might make a comeback on the cobbles when her stepdaughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney) is "wild and crazy".
She said: "You never know with her - she might be back at some point.
"Perhaps she'll tip up again when her stepdaughter, Amy, is a wild and crazy 18-year-old who needs someone to sort her out!"
Katherine - who is set to leave the Street in January 2012 - admitted it feels like time for her to depart Weatherfield and explore other options, although she begged 'Coronation Street' bosses not to kill off her character.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: "The first thing I said to 'Coronation Street' producer Phil Collinson was, 'Please don't kill me off!'
"There are so many ups and downs and developments still to come, but I'd hate to see the end of Becky for good, I really would. I've watched the show all my life, and as a viewer, I wouldn't like that.
"But I've been here for five years now, and the time feels pretty right for me to go. I've had more than I'd ever dared to dream of from 'Coronation Street' - just like Becky!"
Becky is set to go crazy again this week when she visits the Barlow household to see her arch-enemy Tracy (Kate Ford) armed with a sledgehammer.
