Kate Ford's tears over Kelly departure
'Coronation Street' star Kate Ford has revealed she is upset that Katherine Kelly has decided to leave the show because they are so close off screen
'Coronation Street's Kate Ford is going to miss her on screen nemesis Katherine Kelly.
Katherine - who plays former jailbird Becky McDonald -recently announced she will be leaving the ITV1 soap and although the pair are at war onscreen over Becky's husband Steve, who is also the father of Kate's character Tracey Barlow's daughter Amy, the pair have a strong relationship off screen.
Kate said: "Katherine's got a heart of gold and she's a really talented actress. We do have a laugh on set together. I'm going to miss her a lot."
Katherine added to TV Times magazine: "Kate was leaving the show just as I'd arrived. She took me out for something to eat; we had a few glasses of red and we stayed friends ever since.
"I go to London a lot and see her and I really enjoying working with her. It's good to have a Public Enemy Number One on screen."
Katherine also revealed although she feels it is time for a change, she is devastated her departure from the soap means the end for the marriage of Becky and Steve.
She said: "I watch Corrie too and I am sad because it means that Becky and Steve will break up. They have to, there's no other option. I know I have only myself to blame because I'm leaving. People keep asking me why and it's a bit boring really. I'm in my fifth year at Corrie and I feel ready for a change, that's all."
