Simon Cowell is backing 'Daybreak's 'Donate a Day' initiative.
The music mogul and a host of other celebrities including Rod Stewart, Pixie Lott and Paul O'Grady has joined the ITV1 show's scheme which launches on Monday (23.05.11) and will see the stars taking part in good causes for a day and encouraging viewers to do the same, such as doing a neighbours' shopping or decorating a community centre.
'Daybreak' presenters Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles have also pledged their support to the project, with Christine set to visit the Teenage Cancer Trust in Cardiff while Adrian will return to his hometown of Birmingham to spend a day with Age UK.
Christine said: "Time is precious and in today's busy world it's easy to lose track of what's important around us. Family, friends, the local community and charitable causes could all benefit from a few hours of our time.
"'Daybreak' is launching 'Donate a Day' to encourage you to give up a little bit of time to make a big difference."
Stars of 'Emmerdale' and 'Loose Women' are also set to get involved in the project, which 'X Factor' boss Simon has urged people to participate in.
He said: "It will change your life, it will change their lives and I promise you, you won't regret it. How important is volunteering? It's a day of your life and I promise you, you will not regret it."
