Rula Lenska is quitting 'Coronation Street' after playing salon owner Claudia Colby for two years
Rula Lenska has quit 'Coronation Street'.
The departure of the 63-year-old actress - who stars as salon owner Claudia Colby in the ITV1 soap - will see Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) getting closer to Claudia's cross-dressing boyfriend Marc Selby (Andrew Hall).
A source said: "We're really going to have some fun with this. Audrey will fully embrace Marc's cross dressing, and even help him pick out outfits."
Rula has already filmed her final scenes, which will be played out over the next six weeks, but the actress has asked producers to give her the opportunity to come back to the Weatherfield cobbles in the future.
A 'Coronation Street' spokesperson said: "We've loved having Rula. She's been absolutely brilliant as Claudia and we hope one day she'll return."
Rula - who is set to star in a UK stage production of 'Calendar Girls', which stars former 'Brookside' actress Jennifer Ellison and 'Strictly Come Dancing' star Camilla Dallerup, in August - confirmed she has quit to "concentrate on other commitments".
