Sam Aston 'mothered' by old ladies
'Coronation Street' actor Sam Aston is always ''mothered'' by old ladies in the street, but he is looking forward to his new teen dad storyline to show a more mature side to his alter-ego
Sam Aston is always "mothered" by old ladies in the street.
The 17-year-old actor - who plays cheeky Chesney Brown in 'Coronation Street' - explained with his alter-ego set to become a teen dad with gorgeous girlfriend Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote), viewers are set to see a new "mature" side to the character.
He said: "You're not seeing young Ches any more. The teenage pregnancy is a really good plot for me - it's a big one and a more mature storyline.
"Little old ladies always want to mother me! That's not massively changed - but I don't mind. I think Ches will always be one of those people that folk take put on because of his upbringing."
However, the star admitted he was always "in awe" of the older members of the 'Coronation Street' cast when he first landed a role on the ITV1 soap.
Sam added to Inside Soap magazine: "I was in awe of the older cast members when I joined, like Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan) and Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth). Bill and I had some good chats."
