Chris Fountain's Corrie tips from Bill Tarmey
Chris Fountain got tops on how to be a Duckworth from 'Coronation Street' legend Bill Tarmey, who played Jack Duckworth for 31 years before bowing out of the ITV1 soap late last year
Chris Fountain got tips on how to be a Duckworth from 'Coronation Street' legend Bill Tarmey.
The 23-year-old newcomer - who joined the cast of the ITV1 soap as Weatherfield womaniser Tommy Duckworth earlier this year - sought advice on how to play his new character from the actor, whose alter-ego Jack Duckworth was a central feature of the cobbles for 31 years.
He explained: "I did have a chat with Bill Tarmey and he gave me a few pointers about being a Duckworth and it was really nice to meet him actually because he's such a legend and soap royalty."
After receiving stick from his fellow 'Corrie' cast members about his orange hue, Chris - who previously played troubled teen Justin Burton in Channel 4 soap 'Hollyoaks' - explained his deep fake tan was necessary because his character was supposed to have returned from a trip to Thailand.
He added to ITV1's 'This Morning': "I think there would've been complaints if I'd come back from Thailand without a tan!"
Michelle Keegan - who portrays brunette bombshell Tina McIntyre in the soap - recently revealed Chris had been ridiculed by his co-stars, in particular Craig Gazey (Graeme Proctor), for his love of fake tan.
She said: "All the lads take the mick because his fake tan is so extreme. He's getting bored with Craig calling him Chris Foun-tan now."
