EastEnders' Yusef Khan is to turn "very nasty and very manipulative" over the coming weeks.

The deceptive doctor - played by Ace Bhatti - will become even more determined to rekindle his flame with ex-wife Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia) and do "everything he can" to ruin love rival Masood Ahmed's life by turning his own family against him.

Nitin Ganatra - who portrays Masood in the BBC One series - told Holy Soap: "He throws a real spanner in the works for Masood. It's horrible, it's very manipulative and very nasty. He is doing everything he can to wreck Masood's life, really, and the way you do that is to get to his family.

"It's a very clever way of doing things - it's not about destroying his family, it's about winning his family and turning them against him, so that Masood is left isolated and on his own. Masood is the one guy who is the glue for the family. His sense of humour is what keeps the family together."

However, Masood is also fighting his own inner battles and is contemplating running away with Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) after he admits he has been attracted to her since they first met.

He recently explained: "Masood almost contemplates it. He just tells Jane that he loves her and thinks she's gorgeous, but he can't be with her. It's very sad and romantic. Masood and Zainab have been married for almost 30 years, but he's had this special attraction to Jane ever since they first met."
