Big Brother to retain eye icon
'Big Brother' is to keep its famous eye icon when it switches to Channel 5 later this year
'Big Brother' will keep its famous eye icon when it switches to Channel 5.
The broadcaster and Endemol UK have decided the iconic motif - which has been used since the reality TV show was launched in 2000 - will be kept in place, with designer Daniel Eatock set to create a new twist on the standard eye when the series hits screens later in the year.
However, while the icon will be staying in place when 'Big Brother' transfers from its former home on Channel 4, the show's theme tune could be set to get the chop.
Composed for the original series by DJs Paul Oakenfold and Andy Gray, Channel 5 bosses are still reportedly in talks about whether the legendary track will return or not.
A spokesperson told the Daily Star newspaper: "'Big Brother' will return this summer but expect lots of changes. All we can say is watch this space."
Former host Davina McCall - who fronted the show throughout its entire reign on Channel 4 - has already confirmed she won't be taking part in the new series, and has instead backed former winner Brian Belo for the role.
She recently said: "I've done my 11 years and it's time for a fresh channel, a fresh start, a fresh look, fresh feel - and I think the presenter should be Brian Dowling or Brian Belo, who is the proper true fan, or Emma Willis who I really love."
