BGT hopeful eyes Big Fat Gypsy Wedding
'Britain's Got Talent' hopeful Michael Collings is keen to win the ITV1 show so the £100,000 prize money can bag he and his fiancee a big fat gypsy wedding
A 'Britain's Got Talent' hopeful wants to win the ITV1 so he can host a big fat gypsy wedding.
Michael Collings - who wowed judges Amanda Holden, Michael McIntyre and David Hasselhoff with his rendition of Tracy Chapman's 'Fast Car' on Saturday night (16.04.11) - is keen to secure the £100,000 prize money so he can tie the knot in style in a gypsy-style wedding with his fiancee, Sarah.
The 19-year-old aspiring star, who currently lives in a caravan with his parents, had to save up for weeks to buy Sarah's £45 engagement ring, but is hoping to put an end to his financial woes by gaining fame on the show.
He told The Sun newspaper: "Sarah is up for a big wedding. We watched 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings'. Who wouldn't want a wedding like that - although I'm not sure about the huge dresses!
"We got engaged a year-and-a-half ago. We haven't set a date, but now we've had our baby, I just want to make things official.
"I'd love to make a living out of singing. Sarah is over the moon for me. But she is stuck at home with the baby and times are hard when I'm not there. If I won, I'd buy a two-bed house."
After Michael mooched onto the stage on Saturday night's (16.04.11) show wearing tracksuit bottoms, Amanda Holden admitted she was so shocked by his talents that she considered it to be the first "Susan Boyle moment" of the competition.
Comparing the hopeful to the unlikely star - who won the 2009 series of 'Britain's Got Talent' - she said: "It's the Susan Boyle moment. When someone like that walks on stage, you judge them. It's bad but it's human nature, you look at someone and think about how they're presented rather than who they are."
